So we have a new year! What will your resolutions be? To lose weight? Run a 5K? Learn to breathe? There are tons of resolutions out there but will you stick with it?
I found that working on yourself everyday will not only alter the year to follow but will alter your life. Making small changes in your lifestyle like diet and exercise will have great benefits to your daily duties. I have made my new years resolution choice to take care of myself. To make better choices when I eat. To keep my sugar cravings at bay and to refrain from salt. To meditate more and find inner strength. To not help others to a fault. All of these choices will help me in my face painting and body art business. How? Well believe or not this business can get physical and be stressful. Stress of filling up your schedule with gigs, working with the clients budget and not breaking your bank account. Taking the time out to write up the contracts and to getting the invoice paid. Keeping up inventory, insurance policies, education and camaraderie. What would happen if the party you booked is up 5 flights of stairs? With no assistant and tons of equipment..Well you would most definitely have to take a couple of trips up and down those stairs. Eating right to help keep your body fit and exercising regularly will help you not look frazzled and more professional when tackling those stairs. What would happen if you completed a job and the client bounces a check or even worse flat out refuses to pay for your services? Would you keep your cool and hit it head on with a lawsuit? Would you give them a chance to pay in payments? Would you just not confront them at all in fear of embarrassment? All of which causes stress. What would you do if you have to find a second or third job to just pay your bills and to help finance you to bring your business to the next level? Juggling these multiple jobs is difficult. Especially when you have a potential client that is looking around for the best price and you cannot answer your phone. Do you get someone to answer your calls and book your appointments? Another costly item... So you get my point..This job is one of the finest jobs ever. This industry has helped tons of individuals with a sense of accomplishment who otherwise have felt hopeless. The industry is mainly made up of women. It has given tons of women the opportunity to earn an income but also to help contribute to their family's needs. Most women feel they cannot provide the right type of help for their families. This industry gives them the chance to stay with their children during the week. It provides time for them to keep up with household chores, school, homework, groceries and so forth. All the while giving them a chance to work weekends. I for one am very happy to say I am in business for another year. Let's keep up with our resolutions, keep making people smile and keep up the good work. Andrea Colletti Owner/ Artist of Fun4UFaces

![]() There are perspective clients that want quality over quantity and others that want quantity over quality. Each serves it purpose and each does not. What I mean by that is, with quality that speaks for itself. If you want tons of entertainment at a low cost you are running the risk of certain conditions. First and for most you cannot possibly pay your workers well and keep your loyalty abundant. You run the risk of having certain qualities that stand out. You run the risk of having people not remembering your services which reflect on the client and there is nothing worse then an unhappy host. I for one like to be at my events to oversee production. In this business and in all businesses, time is money, Yes.. But so is great customer service. When you walk away from a job well done you have a sense of pride in knowing you have built a great client base for your company. When I first started this company my main source of booked gigs were primarily word of mouth. I relied on people having a great experience and I still do! Here is what goes into a booking for me. When my phone rings I will take down all of the information about the client. I will get the who, what , when and where's. The why we already know. I will also need to know how they found me because I need to know where my marketing budget is going. So once all that information is established I will book the client. That all seems so easy. Well it is so much more than that. There is insurance, products, maintenance, paperwork, emails, advertising, social media, blogs and tons of other things that are put into just one booking. Most customers never realize the time and effort that goes into making their day special. By no means does all this work force me to hate this career choice. In fact it is just the opposite. Being an entrepreneur and working for myself is extremely rewarding. You have to be dedicated, driven, organized, happy and reliable. Once you start understanding your strengths and weaknesses you will know where you need the most help. It is hard to keep up the pace daily so having a list of things to do helps keep you organized. One of my English professors once said to me "Keep on doing what you are doing, put one foot in front of the other and you will eventually get where you are going". The best advice I ever received and that is my advice to you. Have a blessed summer. Andrea Colletti Owner and Operator of Fun4UFaces and ArtistrybyAndie |
